I Was The Victim Of Workplace Violence. I'm Back To Work Now, But I'm Behind On Rent.

My Story:

I am a single mother of an outstanding, very intelligent 13-year-old young man. My son has had some challenges with his hearing as an infant, which has caused him to have some auditory processing challenges. However, he is working everyday towards over coming those challenges. I work overnight with the United States Postal Service, as a mail processing clerk, which is a very physically strenuous job.

In March, I was physically assaulted by a co-worker that had previously gotten physical with me and verbally threatened me. However, this time I had a witness to the entire situation but because of the protocol both of us were sent home and I was suspended. I have gone downtown to the Clerk of Court and have been approved by the Domestic Violence Judge for an Injunction against this person. The Union has gotten me back to work but that has not stopped the bills from being due. I am asking Modest Needs to assist with my rent.

Your help will bring my rent current and will allow me and my son to have a roof over our head and not become homeless. I owe it to my son to try everything because it's never too late to make things right. My son goes to a special school right down the street from where we live, and he has excelled during the last 2 years of being there. This will be a tremendous set back if we are evicted because of this situation.
