Stroke Survivor Needs Car Repairs
My Story:
I am a single mother of two great kids. My 12-year-old is in 7th grade and loves music, especially Korean pop music. My 10-year-old son loves video games and reading Ripley's Believe It or Not books. I am medically retired due to suffering two strokes at age 38. I taught 8th grade science at the time and had a stroke at my kitchen table while working on lesson plans. I am better now, still recovering but very much grateful to be alive!
Thankfully I receive retirement benefits from the district where I taught. It is only half of what I earned as a teacher. I'm grateful, but we went through our savings rather quickly with the aftermath of the stroke. My car broke down a while ago and has been sitting at my mechanic's shop ever since. We have no other car and do not live near public transportation. My car helps me get to doctor appointments, pick up medications we need and take care of our family needs. We are asking Modest Needs to help us pay for the car repairs.
This grant would help our family very much. With a running car again, I wouldn't have to pay others to take me to the doctor or to pick up groceries. That would help me begin my emergency savings again and possibly pay it forward for another family who needs help as well. Thanks in advance for any help. It is greatly appreciated!
