User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeOpening the email with the words '.....fully funded' was exactly what I needed at the end of a very hard day. Not only did those couple of words change a hard day into a beautiful day, they lifted a huge weight off of my shoulders and I immediately had the ability to let go of stress and play with my children without my brain wondering how the next months mortgage will be made on time. The gift that you have given as you trust me with this grant is beyond what you can imagine. That email with '....fully funded' did not only change one day for me, it changes many. It is proof that I am not alone as I journey through this life with my children. Being a single mom with three children, all with their own level of special needs, is the single most AMAZING job in the world and I am overjoyed that I am chosen to be the momma of these most wonderful children. However, that job can be daunting, overwhelming, and is often lonely. The gift of this grant reminds me that I am not alone. People that know me and people that don't are there for me and my children and that is a huge blessing and I am so grateful. I am grateful for the 'village' that God puts in my life for the betterment and protection of my children. They are worth it! Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!!!!

SIngle Mother of 3 Adopted Children Needs Mortgage Help After Medical Expenses

My Story:

I am a single mom who adopted three amazing children. My two older children are from Haiti and my youngest is from China. I am a physical therapist and I love being a mom. My oldest daughter is 14, profoundly deaf with other compounding developmental and medical disabilities. She enjoys going to church. My middle child is my only boy, he is 13 and he is typically developing with a love for theatre and drama, and my youngest child is 3 years old. She is also profoundly deaf and is full of energy and love of life.

As a single mom, earning the sole income for our family, I usually make enough to cover the bills. Over the past year and a half, my oldest daughter has experienced some medical issues that have caused her to be hospitalized over 6 times for prolonged periods of time. She has also had one outpatient surgery and 2 ER visits. My youngest daughter has also required an outpatient surgery. All three of my children require weekly therapy and my son is requiring orthodontics. Due to these medical issues, specifically those of my oldest daughter, I have been placed on an intermittent FMLA and am frequently needing to be out of work without pay in order to deal with her medical complications, appointments and therapies. On top of this, our family has unfortunately also experienced 2 car accidents resulting in the total loss of 2 vehicles in less than 18 months. All of this costs so much money and then without being able to work full time all the time, I am in a bind. I need Modest Needs help with my mortgage payment.

This funding would allow me to be able to not only catch up and breathe a little financially, but without that stress I would have the ability to enjoy the little things without that hanging over my head. Sometimes the stresses of money is so strong that my stomach is upset and I feel like crying and I miss the little joys in life that my kids so often bring to me. I do not want to miss a moment when it comes to my kids and I work really hard to focus on them, but with mounting financial difficulties, it is hard.
