Single Mother Seeking Rent Help After Layoff Forced A Job Change
My Story:
I am a single mother to an intelligent, sixteen-year-old boy who has been very helpful and understanding during these challenging times. Currently, his focus has been on preparing for the SAT and ACT, with the goal to earn a scholarship to attend college. I put myself through college, becoming the first person in my family to graduate from college. I work in the medical industry, pain management specifically.
Losing my job could not have come at a worse time. I am trying to adopt my eight-year old niece who has recently been placed into foster care. The main requirement to adopt my niece is to be financially stable, and my recent short term unemployment has become a roadblock. I am very thankful to have recently began a new job, however I'm still behind on my bills. As soon as I can provide proof to the court that I am financially independent again, I can continue to follow through on my promise to my niece and bring her home.
Your assistance with my rent would restore my financial stability and keep me from losing my home and the opportunity to adopt my niece. I sometimes feel that I am alone in my struggles. I feel I have a lot of good to contribute to the world and can help others if I can just get past this bump in the road. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my story.
