Struggling With Liver Failure, Need Help With Medical Bills
My Story:
I am 41 years old and have always worked hard since I first got a job as a teenager. I am recently separated from my husband and am going through liver failure due to NASH disease. I am very sick with lots of hospital admissions and medical bills. I was a successful Financial Director for a major company before I became ill. I am struggling to pay medical bills and get medical services. I have had major stomach issues with bleeding and many surgeries. My left kidney is not working well at all. I no longer go to the bathroom by myself. I catheter 5-7 times per day. I can't afford my catheters.
Unfortunately, the medical bills keep coming. It's like I can never catch up. I struggle to decide between paying my rent on time, buying meds, and other bills. When I call for appointments, I get transferred to the billing department and they request money and when I get to the office they want me to pay. Sometimes I can't go because I don't have the money.
Over the years, I donated to American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Food Banks, Homeless Shelters, Lo Tide Run (for cancer charity), Hospice, Hurricane relief, and Love is Bald. I gave money, time, food, and supplies. It was so rewarding to see the people's face when they knew someone cared. I feel there is still good in this world and we help each other when we can. The funding will give me a small chance to breath and rest a little easier. I hope to get the appointments I need and be able to afford my inhalers and meds. I need a follow up visit but can't afford to schedule. Thanks for your consideration.
