THANK YOU! Those two words can't even begin to encompass the incredible amount of gratitude I have for anyone and everyone who was a part of this. The funds within this grant will allow me to start over on my finances and get back to a 'regular' state of living. No more wondering if I can stretch out what food we have for another few days to wait for the next paycheck to come, no more strictly watching Riley's puppy excitement levels so that we don't get over-exerted and have to go back to the doctor because we're still trying to find a way to pay off the last vet bill, no more 'back of the mind' thoughts that I'm not going to ever be able to climb above the debt this emergency caused me. Receiving an email that said 'Congratulations, you've been fully funded' brought me a huge breath of relief- tears definitely, but more importantly I can breathe easier knowing that I won't be starting a new school year with a broken budget. Elementary Teacher Needs Rent Help After Pet's Medical Emergency
My Story:
I have been teaching at elementary school for 5 years. I live in a one bedroom apartment with my dog, Riley, who I rescued in February this year.
I rescued my dog, Riley, a few months ago from a our city's public veterinarian and was told that she was in great health. A few days after getting her, I noticed she was very lethargic and having trouble breathing regularly. I called the vet, and they again told me that everything was fine and she was 'just adjusting'. The next day, she wouldn't even lift her head or get up to eat.. I immediately rushed her to an animal clinic and they proceeded to put her on a respiratory machine and insist she stay in the ICU for the day. Riley had 3 major respiratory diseases (bronchitis, pneumonia, and alveolar disease), and that her lungs were almost completely full of 'gunk'. Paying for treatment took most of my savings and put me in a bind being able to pay all my other expenses.
This funding will help bring current with my finances, along with making me feel less stressed about getting by. I completely wiped out my savings to make sure my dog was healthy and would do it again if needed, but this has made it very difficult to feel stable and secure in being able to realistically pay my bills on time. Thank you, Modest Needs, for helping make a positive difference in the lives of others in need.
