Therapy Dog Needed Surgery to Live Pain Free
My Story:
I am a survivor of domestic violence and to aid in my recovery I have been given a service dog, Emmy. It is very difficult to explain how much Emmy does for me. She redirects my focus when I am entering a panic attack; she gives me a constant companion that needs my love and attention to keep my severe depression at bay; she loves me unconditionally no matter the physical or emotional pain that I am dealing with that day.
I am now in a wonderful supportive relationship and my new boyfriend is working very hard to help me recover. We are living paycheck to paycheck, but we are making a wonderful life together. Unfortunately, last week, Emmy, who has severe glaucoma and lost her sight some time ago, had to have emergency surgery to remove her eyes, which were causing her to live in excruciating pain. Since the surgery, Emmy is a different dog in all of the best ways. She runs, plays, and has learned to follow me by listening to the sound of a bracelet I wear on my ankle just for her. I can't tell you how glad I am to see Emmy back to her old self, but the cost of this emergency surgery has really left us in a financial bind. We just weren't prepared to have to save our dog's life in this way.
I am asking for the donors at Modest Needs to please help me pay the vet bill for the surgery that has saved my dog's life. With your help, we can stay on track financially, and Emmy will be able to remain by my side in comfort for the rest of her life. Thank you so much for considering my request.
