This is AMAZING! I am in gratitude and awe that my request was fully funded so quickly! The Modest Needs organization and the donors that support it are a special gift to the community. I was under so much stress trying to figure out how to keep up with rent and living expenses during my month of unemployment. When I found out that my request was funded, I cried happy tears and could barely sleep that night, because I was so excited! I can now breathe a sigh of relief because I don't have to stress so much. The last couple of years have been very difficult for my spirit because of work stress, heartbreak, and family deaths. Temporary Work Closure Caused Income Loss- Please Help with Rent
My Story:
I am a 38-year-old single woman who has never been married. I love the arts and moved across the state 8 years ago to a new town to earn my MFA degree. I am the only person in my household, and work full-time to support myself. I create artwork when I am not working at my regular job.
My job pays a low wage and does not include any benefits. This allows me to earn just enough to cover my basic expenses every month, so I live from paycheck to paycheck. My place of employment is closed for one month, and I will not receive any pay during this temporary period of unemployment. I will not have a paycheck again until late January, and am in need of some short-term assistance to stay afloat this month.
I am asking for Modest Needs to help me with my rental payment. Without this assistance, I will feel more unstable than I already feel as someone who just barely earns enough to meet my basic needs. I have been scrambling, trying to figure out how I can make up for this income loss, but as my rental deadline approaches, I know I need to reach out for some help.
Your assistance will make it possible for me to keep a roof over my head, and have much less catching up to do when work resumes. With your help, I will feel hopeful and have a sense of security. This one-time support would have a lasting and beneficial impact on me, and I would appreciate it so much.
