These past few months have been some of the hardest I've ever experienced. However, where there is darkness, there is light. With all the negativity and hate in the media, it's easy to lose your faith in the kindness of others. This grant is my light at the end of a dark tunnel. Single Worker Needs Rent Help to Get Back on Her Feet after Period of Underemployment
My Story:
I am a single 29-year-old woman. I was born in South Korea, but was adopted by my parents when I was 4-months-old. They divorced when I was 6, and I lived with my mom and older sister before moving out on my own. I moved to Texas recently, after living in Alaska since I was just a baby. I am a HUGE dog lover, and have a yellow Lab. I love cosmetics, and think it would be really fun to someday make my own beauty channel on YouTube.
After moving here in April, I was only able to find part-time work at first. I was barely able to cover rent alone on the income from one job, and fell behind on some of my expenses. I recently began a second part-time job in retail, and am now just trying to get back onto my budget so I can keep up with my expenses going forward.
I am requesting help to pay for one month of my rent. I have been doing my best to catch up with everything since starting my second job, but my earnings are low and really do not allow me to afford both past-due and current expenses. I am afraid I will lose my home if I cannot find a way to get back on track and bring my bills current.
These last few months have made me feel like I am stuck in a hole and cannot get out. Your help would provide me the ladder I need to climb out of it and be able to manage my finances again. The amount of worry I have experienced while struggling to pay rent on time has taken toll on my health. Now that I have a second job, I am very close to being okay again. This one-time help would make a huge impact on my life, both personally and financially. I would be so thankful to receive this assistance in overcoming this challenging period and starting a new and improved chapter in my life.
