Starting Over after Leaving Abusive Marriage: Please Help with Rent
My Story:
I am a recently separated mother of one 21-year-old daughter. My daughter is in college and working part-time, while living at home. I work full-time in a restaurant. I had been going to college as well, but had to put that on hold last year due to a difficult life transition.
I have been working hard, but struggling to get back on my feet after leaving an abusive marriage. It has been challenging to restructure my life since the separation, and I have not even had the funds to officially file for divorce yet. I have been everything I can to make ends meet, but as a full-time worker, I earn too much to qualify for any type of temporary public assistance programs. I am seeking additional employment, and my daughter is doing what she can to help out, but we could really use some one-time help to get back on track.
I am asking Modest Needs to help me with rent. I worry that, without help, my daughter and I could eventually face eviction from our home. This has been such a stressful time, and I continue to incur late fees on one expense while trying to catch up with another, and I would be so grateful for some help to become current again and break this negative pattern.
If I am able to receive this assistance, it will lift away the feelings of stress and helplessness, and will allow me to focus my energies on finding a second job to boost our household income. I really appreciate any help you can provide, and thank you for your consideration.
