Senior Needs Mortgage Help after Paying for Roof Repair

My Story:

I am a 70-year-old, divorced senior citizen, living alone. I work part-time to supplement my fixed retirement income, and earn just enough to pay for my basic expenses. I work two hours a day in a school, 10 months of the year. I am unable to save for emergency expenses.

My limited income is just enough to cover my bills, but without any current supplemental earnings, and no savings, I have found myself struggling due to an urgent, and unexpected repair cost to my leaking roof. I am unable to afford both the repairs and my mortgage, and in order to prevent further, more costly damage to my home, I had to take care of the repairs with the money that would otherwise have been my mortgage payment.

I am asking for Modest Needs' help with my mortgage payment. I am still very independent for my age, but I am unable to save for major, unexpected expenses, like the repairs for my home. If I had other means, I would not ask for assistance, and I do all I can to make sure I can take care of things all on my own. However, this unexpected expense has caused a real financial hardship, and I am now worried I could lose my home if I do not find a way to catch up with the mortgage soon.

Your help will make such an impact on me by keeping me in my home and allowing me to recover from this financial setback. I am a proud woman, and as hard as it is for me to ask for help, I do need it and would truly appreciate your assistance. I hope to find additional work to build an emergency fund for myself, should something like this occur again in the future.
