User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeI can't begin to thank you SO much for this much needed financial help! It has been a trying year for our entire family. With the deaths of many family members, my Mother included, and friends, this brings a desperately needed glimpse of 'Light' our way. Who knew that the depression of last year rolls into another year of heartache and financial problems. It happens SO fast that you don't get second to even notice it. We are praying that this was all a bad dream and that we will all wake up to our lives before the tragedies. Being helped by many of you, makes it much easier to find that 'Glimpse of Light'. There are really people, like yourselves, that look out to help my self and others in similar situations. Now that's more than a 'Glimmer' of light. That's a blessing! I've helped many people through-out my life when I was able to but I was dealt a crazy hand. I ended up with MS. My Grandmother had it but we where praying that it would skip myself and siblings. I had to stop working as a movie production accountant and stay home to be nursed by others. SO not what I wanted. I don't want others to need to take care of me BUT I am learning that it IS OK to accept love and kindness from others. Including people like yourselves. You don't understand how nice it is going to be to hand that check to my VERY understanding landlord. He has given me more time to pay but there was no guarantee that that generosity would continue. I defiantly do NOT want him to have to wait much longer. It is his business and livelihood. YOU help not only my family but HIS, too! Your heart of gold goes a long way...it might even be 'CONTAGIOUS'...in a wonderful way!

Family Needs Help with Rent After Mom Experienced Medical Complications from MS

My Story:

I am a married mother of two girls, and I am battling with MS. My eldest is currently a freshman in college, and my baby, who is 16 years old, dreams of being a doctor. My daughters are full of energy and love, and both are beyond exceptional. They help with all aspects of the home, including cooking, laundry, and assisting me to / from my bed when my MS is severe. Because of my medical condition they have helped me like this since they were very young, and have never complained. My husband also goes above and beyond what anyone could imagine, and works fulltime for the school district. Usually we are able to make ends meet, but recently I had several medical issues and had to go to the hospital. This caused us to fall behind on our rent.

We are seeking help from Modest Needs with our rental payment. Right now we have no where else to turn. We have had a hard year full of unexpected heartache and costs. My mother past away at the end of last year and we had to help with her final expenses. This was hard, not only to lose her, but since she didn't have life insurance we used up a good portion of our savings to cover her funeral. Following that, I had subsequent medical expenses. We are trying to get back on track but I am so worried that we will end up homeless before that happens.

Receiving this help would allow us to become whole and put us back on track with a fresh start. Our family needs a fresh start, especially for our children. They didn't just lose their grandmother; they also have lost two of their best friends, one from a rare cancer and the other to a tragic skateboard accident. This was too much for them to have to deal with, and I cannot image explaining that we are losing our housing. Your help would bring such relief to my family. It would mean so much to us to know that others out there who care and are willing to help.
