Hardworking Family Needs Help to Prevent Utility Disconnection After Temp Income Loss

My Story:

I am a single mother of two children who are now adults. I raised my children on my own and always worked very hard to provide for them. My son has struggled with learning disabilities and other challenges throughout his life, but he has come a long way. He still has some difficulty becoming self-sufficient and needs my assistance to stay on track at times. He works hard and always contributes to the household. My daughter is 19 and struggles with bipolar depression and a sever anxiety disorder. She worked very hard to finish high school last year, despite having missed days for hospitalization. Although neither of my kids has had an easy time, they're both great people and I could not be prouder of them! I work full-time as a student loan servicer and recently took on a second job, working part-time as a cashier.

My son was out of work for four months, and was temporarily unable to help with any of the bills. We fell behind on some of our expenses, and now that he's back to work, and I've started a second job, we're just trying to recover from the income loss that hit us hard during the first few months of 2016.

We are asking Modest Needs to please help us with our gas utility bill. We need to pay this to have essentials like hot water and the ability to cook, but the missed payments and higher winter heating costs have made it impossible for us to pay for this large balance on our own. We are scheduled to have our gas service disconnected soon, and with that, we will have to pay for additional fees to restore the service. We are doing everything we can to work hard, to get everything back on track, but it is overwhelming and we would be so grateful for some assistance.

Your help will bring us current with everything and relieve us of the stress that comes with all of the shut off notices we've been receiving. I've never had a utility shut off, and I've never let any bills get out of hand. I feel like I have failed my family, and as hard as it is to ask for help, I would be so incredibly grateful to have this weight lifted off of me. Your assistance will allow us to have peace of mind and maintain our expenses going forward.
