Family Needs Utility Help after Paying for Youngest Child's Therapies
My Story:
I am a married, wheelchair bound non-combat disabled veteran, and father of 4 children. My oldest daughter is 15, and is a Freshman in high school. She is interested in journalism and visual arts. My 9-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son are both honor roll students, and both were student of the month in their grades at the same time. They both love board games and soccer. My youngest daughter is 6, and she is non-verbal. She attends speech and occupational therapies twice a week to help with her apraxia of speech and autism.
My wife and I typically earn enough to cover our basic bills, but we do not have any way of affording extra expenses. Due to the unanticipated, additional costs for our youngest daughter's therapies, we fell behind on some expenses, and we've had a difficult time getting caught up again.
We are asking for Modest Needs to help us with the past due balance we owe on our electric bill. We have received a disconnect notice, and we're now at the cutoff date. We could have our power turned off at any time, and this is really worrisome for me. If we lose our electricity, we will have to pay for reconnection fees, and have to replace all the food in our refrigerator and freezer. This would set us back on our other bills, causing us to lose the stability we need to maintain for our kids.
We live on a modest budget, and we have eliminated some costs so we could budget for our daughter's therapies going forward. Your assistance with our electric bill would give us a sense of relief and allow us to keep our bills on schedule again. I am currently working to pursue home-based employment to supplement our household income and improve our financial situation, and my hope is to soon be in a position to pay your kindness forward. Thank you.
