Teacher on Unpaid Medical Leave after Orthopedic Surgery: Urgent Rent Help Needed!
My Story:
I have dedicated my life to serving others, first through Healthcare, and then through teaching. I work in the school system, as a 4th grade Math and Science teacher. I am married, and have one 12-year-old son. My son loves to play football and has ever since the 2nd grade!
Over the Christmas break, I broke my ankle and had to have surgery. After surgery on January 7th, I was ordered to take leave to recover from surgery, and am not approved to go back to work until April 4th. I cannot put any weight on my right ankle or drive until I am fully healed. My husband has had to take time from his schedule to care for me as well. I found out on February 2nd that I would not receive any pay while on medical leave, because I have not worked enough hours to qualify for compensation during my leave. This came as a huge shock to us, and we have no way of covering our bills this month.
We are asking for Modest Needs' help to make our rent payment for this month. I should be back to work and able to take care of everything by next month, but we are in a true financial bind for the current month. We could face eviction if we do not make our rental payment soon, and it is stressful beyond belief.
Any assistance we receive would be so appreciated. This would restore our family's sense of stability, and make a long lasting impact on us in so many ways. My husband and I have struggled many times, but we have always found a way to make it through. Although we have nowhere else to turn for help at this time, I am hopeful that Modest Needs may be able to provide us with short-term help and make all of the difference in the world for us in our time of need. This will show our son the great way people help each other, and we will continue to do all we can to always help those around us in turn.
