In Need of Help Paying Medical Bill For Cancer Treatment
My Story:
I am a 51-year-old woman who was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. I live with my husband who is 67 years old and has been disabled since 1989, along with my 20-year-old son who is currently between jobs. I have 1 full time job and 2 part time jobs working with persons with intellectual disabilities. We are all active in our church, singing gospel music and doing various things. We earn enough to pay for our basic expenses every month, but we do live paycheck to paycheck. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Oct. we had no savings set aside. The cancer diagnosis has been such a life-altering event that created a very sudden impact on our family and finances. I work very hard to provide for my family but I have medical insurance, co-pays and out of network expenses that are beyond my control right now. This illness has changed our lives mentally and financially.
We are turning to Modest Needs for help with the balance from my tumor exam pathology bill. If I cannot pay this it may cause the doctors to refuse seeing me for future treatment or I may have to seek treatment elsewhere. I need additional treatment including 4 tri-weekly chemo treatments and 6 weeks, Mon-Fri radiation treatment along with my medication. This bill I am asking for help with is the largest bill I have received in the past 2 months. I have been able to afford the co-pays so far on the income I have. Please help me if you can! It will mean more than you can know.
