Testimonial

This person has left the following thank you note:

No one wants to entertain the idea of moving into a care facility because of chronic illness or disability. By funding an accessible bathroom remodel for my client with Multiple Sclerosis, you have enabled her to stay safely and independently in her own home. The new bathroom makes room for a shower chair and includes a hand held shower wand so that she can maintain her dignity by taking care of her own hygiene. Grab bars have been installed to decrease the risk of injury due to falls, which often lead to hospitalizations and nursing home stays. My client formerly worked hard as a trauma nurse, and now she works hard to 'make it' on her fixed disability income: this bathroom would not have been possible on her current monthly budget. Thank you so much, Modest Needs donors, for helping to preserve her dignity and independence! Sarah, Social Worker in Seattle

Woman with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Needs an Accessible Bathroom

My Story:

Hello, I live alone and have Multiple Sclerosis. I survive on a fixed income, and cannot afford much out of the ordinary. As a result of my condition I have needed modifications to my home so that I can take care of myself. I am turning to Modest Needs to help me obtain an accessible bathroom in order to accommodate my disability. The job is costly, and I need only a little more help in order to finish gathering the funds for it. My Social Security payments are just not enough to be able to cover this expense, and with your help I will be able to get this much needed accessibility equipment.

Having an accessible bathroom will be an essential step in my ability to remain independent and in my home for as long as possible. Your assistance will help my situation tremendously and allow me to stay in my house without having to be moved to a facility. I would be grateful beyond believe. Thank you for your consideration.
