I can't just tell you the overwhelming joy I felt when I saw my email from Modest Needs, stating that I had enough donors for my hearing aids. I hope you all will understand what doors this will open for me. It will also help my relationship with my 16 year old son. He gets so frustrated with me, not to mention my new customers at the deli. They are all going to be as happy as me with my having hearing aids to actually hear. I can't help but cry over the kindness you have shown me. That is why I want to be a Social Worker when I finish school, I want to help people as well. There are no words to express my true joy. All I know is that I am going to be able to hear again. Single Mother With Hearing Loss Needs Help Obtaining Hearing Aids So That She Can Succeed!
My Story:
I am a single mother, living with my 16-year-old son and taking care of my adorable grandson, while his parents are working out of state. I work part-time, and am starting school in order to finish my degree in Social Work this fall. I have health problems and survive mostly on a fixed income, but work when I can and am working on obtaining a degree so that I can improve my opportunities. I am hard of hearing and struggle with it every day.
I am turning to Modest Needs in order to help me afford hearing aids in both ears. I can hardly hear the customers at my part-time job, and have a hard time communicating with my family. I have found an organization, which will help me with the majority of the expense, but still need to pay them their fee, in order to process and fund my request. With these hearing aids, I will be able to function better at my job, in the public, and at school. I am afraid that if I do not get this help I will fail classes, as I am already missing most of what is said. I have tried to get assistance through the state, but they only assist patients with severe hearing loss, and mine is severe in one ear, but moderate in the other.
The funding of this application will benefit me in every way possible. To have people reach out and help me like this would be a true gift, and the actual reason why I want to become a social worker. With your help I can reach my goals in life and hear clearly for the first time in a long time. Thank you!
