It is difficult to find the correct words to express our joy for receiving the funding to purchase the portable ramp for Michael. He is a bright 12 year old boy who will now be able to take his wheelchair outside of his home this summer and is excited to experience greater independence when school reopens in the Fall. This kind gift opens many possibilities for him in his immediate future and will continue to provide a mobility solution for him for years to come. Aside from being unable to walk, Michael misses his Mother greatly who is rehabilitating in another state and this generous gift will help to soften his hardships. Sister who Cares for Brother with CP Needs Ramp
My Story:
She is a working single mom who is also a college student, but more than that, she selflessly took in her disabled younger brother who has never been able to walk or stand. Her brother has Cerebral Palsy, and while their mother is in rehab for substance abuse issues, she is taking care of him, in addition to her own son, her schoolwork and her career duties.
This responsible, dedicated Somerset, Pennsylvania woman is seeking assistance under the Self-Sufficiency Grant for the cost of a portable ramp for his wheelchair. Without this ramp, it is nearly impossible for him to be mobile outside of the home. As he grows, it is increasingly difficult for this young student and mother to carry her brother where he needs to go.
By investing points in this family, who have already overcome amazingly difficult obstacles, you can help a woman who has gone above and beyond in caring for her loved ones, and who only wants assistance in helping her brother to get around.
She has already done so much that it would be a shame for this caring woman to go without the assistance she needs to care for her disabled brother.
