This person has left the following thank you note:

Thank you so much for your help paying my rent when I had to spend all of my rent money taking my poor little Chihuahua Ivory to the emergency vet when he began having seizures. This dog is so special to me, he is my therapy dog. I truly do not know what I would do without him. I was SO worried, both about Ivory (who is now stable on his seizure meds.) and about how I was going to save my apartment. Words can not express the gratitude I felt when I checked my page on Saturday and saw that my request had been fully funded. I am not eligible for help from any place because I work part-time to supplement my disability income. I have no family to help and my friends are struggling as much (or worse) than I am. I had begun to think about a payday loan which I know would have made things much worse over the long run. Again, thank you so much for your kindness and generosity in this difficult time. This may very well have prevented me and Ivory from becoming homeless.

Emergency Vet Bill: Rent Help

My Story:

I have been disabled since 1999, but I returned to work part-time in January of this year. In early April, I was taken out of work for a week due to Asthmatic Bronchitis. Due this a smaller income in April, I tightened up on expenses and thought I'd be Okay.

Then on May 7th, my Chihuahua, Ivory, who is my therapy dog, had a seizure that lasted a full 5 minutes and then vomited twice. I still had my rent money in the bank because I was waiting to get the new rent amount (I live in subsidized housing and my rent fluctuates according to my income). I had no choice but to pay the vet bill and pay for the taxi with my rent money. The cost of the vet and transportation used up every bit of the rent for the month.

My dog continued to have seizures (4 in one day) and had to go back for medication. Thankfully, the emergency vet was able to waive their charges as a one-time courtesy for the second visit. While I was able to keep from falling any further behind on my rent, I expect an eviction notice any minute. I have no family to help and none of my friends have this kind of money to lend.

If I am evicted, I have no resources for moving and finding a new place. I hate to ask for help like this, but I truly have no way to come up with the money. Thank you so much for taking the time to consider assisting me.
