Gas and Water for Two Greenhouses

My Story:

1. Our organization serves children and adolescents who have a chronic or terminal illness as well as addressing a wide array of mental health challenges faced by families in our community. We have a children's clinic that serves over 70 families at a time, that come predominantly from under-served populations.

2. We are asking for funding help to bring gas and water to two 12' X 20' greenhouses that are part of our Children's Environmental Center. The children themselves, under the guidance of an expert Hawaiian Herbologist, will plant and care for Hawaiian medicinal plants along with organic fruits and vegetables. These products, in addition to nutritional education, will be used in the treatment of their illnesses and also to help improve their diets--thus strengthening their immune systems and bodies.

3. Like many children's programs, we find the financial challenges of completing our projects, at times, daunting. We have a huge excavation bill that becomes due by June 30th, 2011, for phase 1 of the fire access road construction, required by the County of Hawaii for our program. Excavation is the first phase of the Fire Road construction. Phase 2 is the concrete and water tank installations--all very expensive.

4. Should you find our project worthy of funding, it would enable the children to begin to use the greenhouses for this important part of their overall treatment and our overall program. The greenhouses have been completed in their construction except for these utilities and with this bid proposal funded, would be paid off in full, thus lessening the financial stress for our Foundation. We are grateful for your consideration.
