Testimonial
This person has left the following thank you note:
Thank you all so much for your generosity. As you may imagine, managing a non-profit in this economic climate is difficult and large, unexpected expenses (like a freezer) can significantly impact our ability to provide services. Thanks to your kindness, we can carry on helping those most in need, those who have been otherwise forgotten by their families and our community. Your generosity literally means we do not have to turn away the next person who comes to us for help. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Kirsten Felix Administrator West House Personal Care Home
Shelter Needs Freezer
My Story:
We run a small non-profit assisted living facility, providing shelter, food and general assistance (bathing, coordinating medical care, medication administration). Because we are a non-profit, we accept those patients who cannot pay for traditional long-term care. Currently, we are serving 17 residents, ranging in age from mid-40s to mid-80s with a wide range of physical and developmental issues. Some of our residents have come to us homeless. Unfortunately, about a week ago, our freezer broke and was deemed irreparable. State regulations require us to maintain at least two weeks worth of food for all residents at all times, so having a large freezer is absolutely essential.
Like most non-profits, we operate on a shoe-string budget and don't have the spare cash to purchase the freezer. Your help will ensure that we do not have to cut back the services we are providing or deny anyone services so we can pay to replace an appliance. Thank you for your consideration.
