This person has left the following thank you note:
My family and I are extremely grateful to all of you who chose to help us. Without your help we were facing being evicted because were so behind in the rent. Your gifts will allow me, to continue my work as a caregiver and tutor for children in the autism spectrum. Because you chose to care I can spend my days concentrating on the work I love and my wonderful, supportive family. I no longer have to worry about basic survival. Because you chose to care and give, my daughter can spend her evenings worrying over grades and not where we will sleep next week. Because you chose to care and give my disabled husband no longer worries that I will have to take a third job to catch up on the rent .We are all amazed and inspired by the outpouring of support from all of you who chose to share part of yourselves with my family. You all are indeed my huge loving extended family. Thank you again and peace.
Help for a Caregiver: Rent
My Story:
I am 51 years old. I live with my husband (54) who is partially disabled due to stroke and arthritis in his spine and I have a 15 year old daughter. I am the main breadwinner. I support my family by working as an aid for children with special needs (mostly autism) in a school district. I am only paid 10 months of the year.
Set to June, so I always struggle to come up with rent for August and September. Fortunately, I have returned to university to pursue a BA and eventually a degree teaching special. The financial aid I receive starts in September, so I am covered for the school year. My husband works a little, but only has a few hours a week due to pain.
In the fall through spring I have to drive him in the evenings because he has night blindness. In addition, he has to pay to renew his temporary green card (that has to be paid before August 27th). If I could get help with August rent, I could relax and go about my business. I'm just requesting this one time grant so I can stop worrying and keep caring for my kids (at work), my family and myself. Thank you.
