This person has left the following thank you note:
I can't believe this. I am truly in awe of the generosity you have given me. Every time I wash a dish, take a shower or flush my toilet I am going to think of Modest Needs and the generous people behind it. Please understand what a huge difference you have made in the daily moments in our lives. We can now use the money that we have been paying for gas to go get water and paying to the laundrymat for other bills that we have. I will not forget what you have done. This is the second time you have helped us. I have entered several sweepstakes that will give money to my fav charity if I win. I don't need to say which charity I will chose!!! I thank you so much. I also thank god for our trials and hard times because that is when we learn the most and are the most grateful and humble. Thank you so much. Our family
Water Meter- To Have Running Water
My Story:
We desperately need a water meter, so that we can hook up the city's water into our house. We purchased a home just outside of the city limits, with the hope that we would be able to connect to the nearest city's water very shortly thereafter. The city installed water connections down our road just last fall. Unfortunately, the cost of the water meter has doubled since we first moved in, and we cannot afford it now. We asked if the city would accept a down payment with a payment plan, but they do not. We would have to pay the full price up front.
We are requesting assistance to purchase the meter itself. My husband can connect it to the existing plumbing in our house. We have been living here since last August with no running water. We are self-employed, and our income fluctuates. We can meet our monthly expenses, but we don't have any extra income saved at this time. It will be months before we can save up enough money to purchase the meter ourselves.
In the meantime, it costs us a fortune to do our laundry at the laundromat. We also have to use our gasoline to go to a campground 15 miles away, every three days, from where we lug 40 to 45 gallons of water back to our house. Otherwise we cannot flush our toilet, do dishes, or clean.
I can't even express what this would do for us. We have had a series of unbelievable setbacks over the past several years. We never imagined that things could get this tough for us this fast. I do want to stress that my family is healthy, and we have a roof over our heads and food to eat. I am not complaining at all. But, to have running water, after going so long without it, would seem like a miracle to me at this point!
We currently take showers at the campground every other day. To be able to take a shower in my bathroom would be amazing. We won't ever take running water for granted again. I wish that I could express what my family has gone through that got us to this point, but it would take up too much space. Please consider my request for help. You cannot imagine how greatly it would be appreciated.
