This person has left the following thank you note:

'Thank You' is truly not enough. Kimberly and I are so Blessed Today - God Bless ALL of You Wonderful Souls that have touched our lives with Your Unselfish Gifts and Love! You have given Us a True Christmas Miracle Today. Your Warmth and Generosity will get our 'Wheels' and Us back on our feet Safely, so that I may pursue the position of a Dialysis Patient Technician, and then be able to perform Dialysis at Home for Kimberly in the New Year - no more getting up at 3:00am to struggle under the hood with the car battery, or check the tire conditions and pressures, and then drive her to her Dialysis Unit 3 days a week! Again - Thank You and God Bless You and Modest Needs! Steven and Kimberly

Disabled Couple: Need Working Car to Stay Well

My Story:

About 3 years ago, I was found to be 100% disabled ('Fatty Liver,' non-alcoholic Liver Cirrhosis), along with having suffered for over 25 years with Fibromyalgia. Thank God for the American Liver Foundation, as they have now steered me in the right direction with 'Fresh Blood' (new G.I. doctors and possible treatments), which may now renew my life with Life! I was in the A/C and Heating business for 25 years back in New York. My fiancee is once again a Hemodialysis Patient (3 days a week - 3 hours each session), after having had a successful kidney transplant for 15 years, until it rejected five years ago. Our 'adopted child' is a one year old rescued yellow lab/rhodesian ridgeback mix named Katie Angel.

I come to Modest Needs today, as my car is in need of being fixed so that I can safely go back to school to relearn a new field (which is presently on hold). I'll be studying to become a Hemodialysis Patient Care Technician, in which I would then be able to perform dialysis at home for my fiancee, freeing her up from having to get up every other day at 3:00 am to get ready for dialysis on those mornings. I'm asking for your help for these car repairs, as this would keep me going to school, which would also enable my second 45 years of life to continue to be as productive as possible, as my illnesses constantly keep me in pain - especially the fibromyalgia.

The repairs range from a tune-up, to an A/C check and possibly tires. I've exhausted all of my means of getting by without bankrupting us this month. It's extremely difficult to portion money out monthly, especially when on fixed incomes.

Once the car is back on the road, and I'm able to start school and become a Hemodialysis Patient Technician, we'll be able to get back to our simple routines - grocery coupon shopping very early in the morning; saving on cab fares, friendships and our own stressed relationships. My fiancee and I are both currently donors to those in need at Modest Needs, especially since we found out about your wonderful causes. We hope you will consider funding this request. Thank you.
