I have just found out that you have helped to fulfill our grant request, and words cannot express how grateful and humbled I am. As I mentioned in my request, my husband lost his job due to the economy after an 18 year career. We have never been in the position where we couldn't pay our bills, and have never before needed assistance. I work at an elementary school, and we now manage check to check. The job market is dismal, and I turned to Modest Needs when our financial situation started to affect our children. The unexpected medical bill was hovering over us, and I applied for the grant not expecting anything, but hoping it would work out. Husband Lost Job: Pay Medical Bill
My Story:
After a year of stomach pain, the doctors finally found treatment and ordered an endoscopy to make sure I was okay. The Co-pay was expensive and I paid 20% of it at the visit. My husband lost his job in management after 19 years in the hotel industry, due to the economy. I work 30 hours a week at an elementary school helping kids with social/school adjustment issues.
We have two young children and live check to check. While the bill is minimal, we just don't have the extra money to pay it. I have never been in a position where I have asked for help, but I find that we are there now. I greatly appreciate your consideration.
