This person has left the following thank you note:
On behalf of AniMeals and the animals and people that count on us, THANK YOU for your amazing outpouring of help. AniMeals is well-known in our community for our program that feeds hungry animals, assists in food and health care for pets of the elderly, homebound or disabled, pets of family's in-crisis, homeless with companion animals, and advocates for civilized treatment of all animals. We would not be able to do this life saving work if not for people like each and every one of you who help us reach our goal. The mission of AniMeals is to save the hungry, the helpless, the lost, the little ones just struggling to survive; to house and feed as many animals as possible; to ease the suffering of the weak and unloved; to build a No-Kill community and to reach the achievement of a No-Kill nation. The funding that AniMeals received, because of your help, will go to assisting elderly, homebound or disabled individuals with emergency health care. Because of your wonderful support we are able to support the community, work towards a No-Kill society, and continually educate the public in responsible pet care. Surrendering your pet because of financial or medical issues is hard for anyone to bear, especially if you are homebound, homeless, or going through a calamity in your personal life. The mix of programs AniMeals has created means we can assist a large variety of necessities in our community and be there to help those when they need it most. Perhaps more importantly, this means fewer animals will face the prospect of euthanasia due to overwhelmed shelters and pet owners in-crisis have a place to turn in their time of need. We cannot begin to thank you enough for your support in our program! It is because of people like you that we can help our community and be there when emergencies arise that might severe the bonds between humans and their furry family members. You make this world a better place! From the bottom of our hearts and from those who have no voice THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and a million more THANK YOU'S…
Emergency Medical Assistance for Pets of the Low-Income, Homebound, Elderly, and Disabled
My Story:
As Montana's preeminent pet food bank, much of AniMeals work is conducted through partnerships with organizations that redistribute supplies to those who need it. Programs include but are not limited to, collaborating with aging and disability assistant services to distribute food to individuals with companion animals, working with local Food Banks to dispense pet food directly to those in need, assisting Missoula's homeless shelter hand out food to pets of the destitute and assist with medical aid, helping the YWCA in efforts to foster/feed/aid pets for abused women and children while they are in recovery, and working with vets to spay/neuter and provide medical treatment for pets of the low-income.
Since starting our animal food bank, AniMeals has delivered over 350 tons of pet food and supplies to shelters and rescues for animals of all sizes, feral dog and cat colonies, furry members of families in-crisis, pets of low-income seniors, homebound, disabled, or homeless individuals and people who aid in re-homing animals who have been abandoned or surrendered.
Today our territory covers over 147,000 square miles of Montana. We have also assisted rescues in Idaho, Colorado, and Washington. Economic hardships can prevent people from caring for the animals they love. When circumstances threaten the bonds between people and their pets, The Honey Fund is there to help. The goal of the Honey Fund is to help animals who need immediate veterinary care to survive. The Honey fund was started in early 2013 when AniMeals received a call from an individual with a very sick cat named Honey.
AniMeals used donations to help save Honey and realized there was a need for this kind of fund in Missoula. Since the creation of the Honey Fund AniMeals has spent over $2000 helping area residents and could spend ten times that amount if we had the funding.
AniMeals goal through the Honey Fund is to help animals whose caregivers do not have the resources to provide medical care and save the lives of animals in need.
As of 2014-01-06, this application has been fully funded!
