Testimonial

This person has left the following thank you note:

First of all I want to tell everyone that I will no longer have to go to bed so early just to relieve my pain by having this lift chair. I have constantly complained to my family and friends about the pain I was in, the fear of falling and always having to go to bed early as that was the relief from pain I had. I recently just heard about Modest Needs and am amazed that there are still people that are willing to help others when they have their own financial needs, especially seniors. I have worked all my life and our government does so little for it's seniors. I never thought I'd be in this situation but here I am and to think that so many people are ready and willing to help someone else they don't even know is just unbelievable. I look forward to the day that I'll be able to have some extra money so I'll be able to help someone else in need. It has lifted a feeling of guilt from my children as there not in the area to help me but this chair gives them a feeling of security just knowing it will help keep me from falling and my independance. Again, I can't thank everyone enough, I will pray that I'll be able to give something back in the near future! WOW what a Mother's Day present, I didn't really expect anyone to help me, I thought there were people worse off that would get the help. God Bless everyone from the bottom of my heart!

Elderly Woman, Living On Her Own, Needs Help Purchasing A Lift Chair

My Story:

I am an 80-year-old widowed woman, living alone in subsidized housing. I have two daughters that do not live in the same state as I. I suffer from arthritis, degenerative disks; I've had full knee replacement, open-heart surgery, two back surgeries and spinel stenosis. I live on a small fixed income and have just enough for my basic expenses.

I really need help to purchase a lift chair, because it is very hard for me to get up from a regular chair. I want to remain independent as long as I can, but to do that I need to remain mobile. I know I have a number of years ahead of me, but because I have lost strength I really have a hard time getting out of my chair.

Your help would mean such a great deal for me and my family as they wouldn't have to worry about me possibly laying on the floor until I'm found. I would not be so stressed out just knowing I would be able to stay in my own home and also not worrying my daughters. I would be able to stay up later as now I have no place to sit because it's so hard to get up. Thank you!
