Please Help Me Afford The Medical Expense That Saved My Son's Life!
My Story:
We are a family of three. I am single and care for my two sons (ages 3 and 17). My three year old has developmental issues due to being born prematurely. I am a healthcare worker and care for others for a living, but now I feel that the roles have been reversed, because I need assistance affording a medical bill for my son.
Originally, my medical insurance was supposed to cover the expense, but I found out that the insurance had lapsed just a few days before my son received medical attention. The insurance company won't cover this bill so I am fully responsible for it. I've made payments in the past but at the beginning of 2013, my child became sick again and was out of school for two weeks with influenza. I went two weeks without pay and now I'm playing catch up with everything.
I am hoping that Modest Needs will be able to help me afford the original medical bills, which put my finances into turmoil. I'm worried that the hospital that provided care to my child has not gotten paid. They did a wonderful job saving my son's life and I am unable to repay the debt.
Financially your help will be one less stressor in my life amongst the other bills I have to deal with. Personally, I've learned a life-long lesson to always ensure that my medical coverage is up-to-date and sufficient. I just need a 'do over', a fresh start. I believe in paying and caring for my family on my own. Thank you!
