User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeI started to cry with tears of happiness when I read my goal had been met. I wish I could hug each donor that donated to my need making it possible to be able to pay our rent and not be homeless. A big thank you to the donors that cared enough to read my story & feel it in their hearts to donate keeping a roof over our heads These last few months have been rough for us trying to pay everything while I continue to recover post the horrific MVA. Knowing that there are people just like me out there that cared enough to donate funds to help keep our family from being homeless restores my faith in humanity. Again thank you to everyone who contributed to my story, I will never forget how you made me feel.

I'm a Mom & Veteran, & After a Car Crash, I Was Told I'd Never Walk Again. We're Facing Eviction!

My Story:

I am a single mother of two daughters. One just graduated high school, and the other is a full-time college student. My college student is a phenomenal artist and very close with her sister. After I was honorably discharged from my position as a flight nurse in the Air Force, I started working in a hospital's emergency department full-time. I also have a part-time job as a case manager for a home health agency.

On my way back from work one evening, I never made it home. I was driving through a green light when another driver sped through a red light, striking the driver's side of my car at 60 miles per hour. The next thing I knew, a fireman was pulling me out from my car. Against all odds, I lived. I spent a week in the ICU before being transferred to inpatient rehab where I learned to walk again. I had fractured ribs, a lacerated spleen, a hemopneumothorax, several spine fractures, and more injuries. I'm still in physical therapy twice a week, and the road to recovery has been very long. My neurosurgeon told me I may never walk again, but I was determined to prove him wrong. I have been out of work while I regain my strength, so balancing groceries, utilities, rent, and everyday expenses has gotten very difficult. I am not going to have enough for our rent this month, and our family cannot face eviction after everything we have been through.

I am asking for assistance with our rent this month, so I can continue to recover enough to return to work. This will keep my girls and I from being put out on the street when I can barely walk. I can have a chance to prepare for our next payment and gradually get our stability back. Thank you so much for everything.
