Thanksgiving Roofing Blitz

My Story:

In the wake of Hurricane's Gustav & Ike, Bayou Grace Community Services, Inc. began the process of assessing needs in southern Terrebonne Parish LA, the area it services. Though many were found needy, two critical cases became apparent.

The roofs of two of these homes were damaged by Gustav's high winds and in desperate need repairing or replacing before the winter rains and freezing temperatures set in. Both families are elderly, infirmed and/or disabled, and have access to little or no resources to fund a repair i.e. FEMA, insurance, etc.

On their behalf, Bayou Grace is having a roofing blitz the week of Thanksgiving, 2008, and has secured the support of volunteers to provide the labor for their repairs, but need help with purchasing materials. Bayou Grace's construction manager did site assessments on the approximately 1200 sq. ft. homes and created an estimate of materials and secured an invoice from a local vendor, Chauvin Bros. Inc.
