I can't thank you enough for first taking the time to read about my situation and then second actually helping me. It has been a long hard few years and I have desperately needed a break to be able to get back on my feet. I just don't have the words to truly express how much appreciate what all of you have done for my son and I. I really wasn't sure this would amount to anything, I have literally asked for help through all of the major events that have happened these last 3 years and gotten very little, even when dealing with my husband's cancer and his death and so asking for help to put tires on my car to be able to go back to work seemed like such a stretch. This is an amazing program and I am beside myself right now that it worked and I am actually going to be able to take this job and subsequently be able to afford to do better which will in turn help my son do better. I have always dreamed he would have a better life than I have and have felt like a failure these last few years, now I can go back to work and we can really pick up and move forward! Tires Were Stolen: Need To Work
My Story:
My husband was a nuclear welder for the Navy. He was exposed to radiation twice and both times the accidents were covered up and not reported. As a result, when he got pancreatic cancer and ultimately died, the VA system denied all claims for financial assistance.
We had both worked hard, built a business and a home for family and in just 8 months, we lost everything. I took care of him best I could, selling off everything without a second thought, just to keep a roof over our heads and get his medications and so on. Now, two years later, my son (16) and I are going it alone, working hard to get him a good education so he can have a better life.
Recently, someone stole all four wheels off my car and left us with no transportation. I have an opportunity, finally, to get back to work and now, no way to get there. If we lived anywhere near the buses, I would make it but we live in a very rural area where rent is more affordable and depend on the school bus for my son but no other means of transportation is available.
I injured my shoulder while taking care of my husband and this has really limited how much I can do for work, the opportunity I have now is a good one and would make a huge difference for us, but I have nothing left to sell or barter with to get these tires for my car. Please help us.
