Widowed/Disabled Father Seeks Rent

My Story:

A serious automobile accident caused my daughter and I to go over a 200 ft. embankment in our car just outside Los Angeles. I had passed out at the wheel. My daughter broke her ribs and ruptured her spleen. Doctors advised that internal bleeding might possibly take her life. Thankfully it did not. As for me, I did not walk for five months.

I was told that I passed out because I had congestive heart failure. I have been disabled ever since but have begun to work from home. We have no extended family. I am the only family that my daughter has. We lost her mom to lung cancer in 2006, which truly broke my daughter's heart. My mom passed away after a brief fight with cancer in 2009.

For the past year and until about three months ago, I have passed out as much as four times per day. I simply fall to the ground, or my head collapses into the computer keyboard with no warning. My condition has improved due to treatments and diet, but during this time since the accident we have fallen almost two months behind in the rent.

Our landlord has been somewhat helpful but although I am working again the arrears must be paid at once for us to maintain a place to live. Obviously I want to do all possible to keep a roof over my daughter's head. Being homeless with a daughter and congestive heart failure is a scenario that would be very difficult and very sad for us.

We need a fresh start. I have no problem working hard. But the slate with the landlord must be cleared. There are many people for you to help I am sure. Nonetheless I hope you will consider our situation as well.
