Thanks to everyone at the Modest Needs Foundation for helping me to get my roof fixed. After Hurricane Katrina, I was afraid that I would never be able to get my house fixed. I didnt know who I could get to help me. When I found out about Modest Needs, I had little hope that they would be able to help me because I knew there are people in worse situations than mine. Im am so happy that they did see fit to fund my application for help. Now it no longer rains in my house, and the wonderful people at Modest Needs are to thank for that.
Elderly Disabled Woman Needs Roof
My Story:
I am 83 years old. I am a disabled woman living off of my social security retirement checks. I have no other source of income so I am asking the help of Modest Needs to fix my roof. After Hurricane Katrina, I paid someone to fix my roof but they took my money and never completed the job. When it rains, everything in my room gets soaked because I have a huge hole right in my closet.
I do not have the extra money to pay someone to fix my roof because I only get one check a month and I have to pay all of my bills since I live alone. This would really be a blessing to me if I could receive this grant because I only have my house. It is the only thing that I own in this world. I don't want the problem to become any bigger than what it already is so that's why I am asking for this grant. I would really appreciate your help to solve this problem.
