I Slept 3 Hours a Night Working 80-Hour Weeks. After Losing My 2nd Job, We'll Be Homeless!
My Story:
I'm a single mom of two girls ages 9 and 11 months. My 3rd grader loves to sing, and my baby loves dancing as she learns to walk. The father of my baby is somewhat involved, but he does not have to pay child support since he is unemployed. I work full-time as an overnight auditor for the Embassy Suites, and I normally make enough money to support my family.
I was working two jobs to stay on top of everything, and I completely burnt myself out. I was working 80-hour weeks because my shift at my second job would start as soon as my overnight shift was finished. I began to fall asleep at the second job, as I could only squeeze in 3 hours of sleep a day. I was let go from the job because I could not get adequate rest, so I'm stuck in a position now where I really need help with my rent. Since losing my second job, my car has gotten repossessed, adding further financial strain to my plate. Although I was able to get hired at USPS, the hiring and on-boarding process can take months. I have been giving my landlord as much as I can and even attending food pantries for groceries, but our time is running out. I do not want my kids and I to get evicted when we're over a thousand miles away from any of my family.
We are hoping for this act of kindness to go toward our rent. This one-time help will get our family back on the right track going forward, and we will not have to worry about finding housing when we do not even have a car. I will be able to support us now that I have my job with USPS. Thank you so much for reading about our situation.
