I Switched Careers so I Could Help My Family but I'll Be Homeless Before My First Paycheck Comes!

My Story:

For many years, I was a public school music teacher, but I resigned to change careers and assist my family in taking care of my grandma who has cancer. I have been nannying for the past year, and I wish to return to school for music therapy. I sing, play the piano, and love to share the joy of music with others. I have a dog named Chloe who has been a huge comfort to me.

My nannying contract ended in December. During my 6 months with the family, my expenses snowballed since they were constantly cutting my hours. For the first time in my life, I received a filing of eviction notice in December. I was unemployed for January and part of February. My expenses have piled up and I have not yet been paid at my new job. My first check will not even cover rent. My medical insurance payments are behind, and I owe some medical debt due to a procedure I had to receive. On top of all of that, my car now needs multiple repairs. My check engine light is on, and my brakes need repairs. I am also due to renew my registration, but that will now be delayed, as my car will not pass inspection. Because of this situation, I have not been able to focus on getting into school while I'm just trying to make ends meet by working during the day and Doordashing or babysitting evenings and weekends. Truly, it feels like I'm drowning right now, and so I'm very humbly seeking assistance with my rent in order to just stay afloat.

Even when I get my first paycheck from my new job, I won't be able to cover all of my bills because I'm stuck behind on my rent. However, if I can get caught up again, I'll be able to stabilize my situation for the foreseeable future. I can set my sights on returning to school, and I'll be able to turn my attention fully towards my future instead of having to focus on just surviving. For that, I would be deeply grateful, and I promise that I will do my best to pay it forwards when I'm able.
