After Burying My Oldest Son, We Can't Afford Our Rent. Please Help Us Through This Hardship.
My Story:
I'm a single mother, and I recently experienced something no parent should ever have to go through; I lost my oldest son in November. He struggled with depression for a very long time, and unfortunately, he lost his battle. It's been devastating to us, and we're really having a hard time coming to terms with his loss. Still, I'm doing the best that I can to care for my youngest two children, for my clients, and for my community.
I work full-time as a peer support counselor, and the people that I work with are all fighting battles with their mental health and/or with substance abuse. The work has been difficult, and after the loss of my son, it will come with a new set of challenges. To honor his memory though, I want to do the best that I can to continue to serve my clients. However, the loss of my son has also been the direct cause of our recent financial hardship. The cost of paying for his cremation and funeral were very steep, and as a result, I don't have any savings leftover, and I don't have the income to cover our rent this month. I had no choice but to bury my son, but as a result, we're on the verge of losing our long-time home.
I'm very humbly asking for assistance with our rent so that we can keep our home and begin to recover from the tragic passing of my oldest son. Truly, my children and I will never forget the support that we receive, and I promise that I will do my best to continue supporting them, my clients, and my community. As a mother, there's no greater hardship than losing a child, but this act of generosity will serve as a guiding light for me and my children for years to come. Thank you for giving us a way forward.
