Back Surgery Kept Me Out of Work for Months, & Now, without Help, I'm Going to Lose My Home!
My Story:
I am a single 56-year-old woman, and I live in a modest apartment with my three rescued cats. I work as a scanning assistant for a major grocery store, and I barely earn above minimum wage. Still, I am mostly able to support myself on my earnings alone, but I am unable to set aside savings to prepare for any kind of unexpected emergencies.
Recently, I experienced an unexpected emergency when I started having issues with my back. Eventually, the pain grew so severe that I needed to have surgery done to correct it. I was unable to work for several months, and I had to take an unpaid leave for my recovery. Unfortunately, I have fallen behind on my rent as a result of being out of work for so long. As I said before, I don't have the savings set aside to handle a situation like this, and now I'm on the verge of losing my home.
I am so worried that I could become homeless and lose my cats if I do not find a way to get caught up. I have looked into local agencies and have asked my employer if they have any kind of emergency assistance for employees in need, but no one has been able to help me with this sudden, and unexpected need. So, I'm very humbly seeking assistance with my rent, as it will put me back on track and save my home until I can return to work again. I truly believe in paying it forward and contributing to the community, so I promise that I will pay the kindness I'm shown forwards once I'm able to put this situation behind me.
