I Beat Cancer, but Insurance Isn't Covering the Bills. Please Help Before We Lose Our Credit!
My Story:
I am a wife and a mother of two. Our oldest is on the autism spectrum, and my husband and I have learned a lot and have worked hard over the years to make sure his needs are met. Both boys work hard in school and do their best to help their father and me. My husband works full-time as a claims processor, and I recently started working part-time in childcare.
Our hardship began when, earlier this year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and was not able to work during my treatment. There are currently several unpaid medical bills we're trying to manage, as our insurance has a high deductible, and we had to meet $6,000 out-of-pocket first. Before the diagnosis, I was working part-time in childcare, and combined with my husband's income, we were just making ends meet. I have been out of work for about 5 months and was unable to get unemployment compensation. While I've gone back to work again, I'm still awaiting my first paycheck, but even with that, we won't be able to cover the medical bill that's coming due in the next few weeks.
We are asking for help with a medical bill related to my breast cancer treatment because without assistance, it will be sent to collections, and that would be a catastrophe for my family. As I recently started working again, we hope to be able to make payment plans and arrangements for outstanding debt and start to build an emergency savings fund in the event something like this happens in the future. This assistance with this medical bill would give my family a much-need opportunity to rebuild after my battle with cancer, and for that, we would be truly and eternally grateful. Thank you.
