I Lost Work to the Pandemic & Need Help Catching Up on Our Electric Bill While We try to Downsize!
I'm a single mom raising my 14-year-old son on my own. He's autistic, and in order to care for him, I've started working from home. It almost goes without saying, but my son is my entire world. He's a spark of joy, and he's just a really wonderful young man. He's an excellent student who always makes the honor roll, and he loves anything Japanese and has a huge appreciation for Japanese culture. When I'm not working, we love spending time out in the country with my parents.
Unfortunately, when the pandemic began, I had to stop working my main job with FedEx because my son had to start attending school virtually. It's only me and him in the household, so I have to be at home with him when he's not at school. For a while, I was able to get unemployment benefits while I searched for work, but those have since ended, and even though I've found a new job, we're struggling to catch up on some of the bills we fell behind on. Right now, we're behind on our electric bill, and I'm worried that if we fall further behind, then we'll never be able to catch up.
Our financial situation has also been a little bit more difficult as the result of some car troubles we've had, and now that my son is back in school mostly full-time, I've had to pay for a sitter to pick him up and take him to school while I work form home during the day. On top of that, we're in the process of trying to downsize so that we can maintain our financial situation a little bit more comfortably. However, that means that we need to be caught up on all of our bills when we leave, and we'll need to have some income saved to cover movers. Having assistance with our electric bill would allow me to do both. We can keep our lights on, get caught up with our bills, and put away more money to move. My son and I would be very grateful for this help, and I promise that we will find a way to pay it forward once we have some stability again.
