I Was in Two Car Accidents That Left Me Disabled. Please Help Me Keep Our Lights On!

My Story:

I'm a disabled, single mother of three beautiful children, and two of them still live at home with me. My oldest daughter is off living on her own, and my youngest two daughters are both teenagers. One of them is learning to drive currently, so that's been a little nerve-racking, but she's doing a good job. We love to spend time together, and we love playing with our two cats, Echo and Hazel.

Prior to becoming disabled, I worked full-time as a forklift driver. When I was able to do that, it was fairly easy to provide for my family, and I was able to manage our bills pretty comfortably. However, everything changed after I was in two different car accidents. I seriously injured my neck and back in both accidents, and now I have to have multiple surgeries to repair the damage. The first one is right around the corner, and the next one is in a few months. Even after those surgeries are finished, I don't know if I'll be able to return to work. If I can't, I'll have to wait on a long-term disability determination, and that will take a very long time. In the meantime, I'm relying on short-term disability to cover what I can, but it's only enough to just barely cover our rent for this month. As a result, we're behind on our utility bills for this month, and we need help if we're going to keep our lights and water on.

I'm seeking assistance with our utility bills because I can't cover them this month, and if we fall behind any further on them, we'll lose our service. I'm doing the best that I can to cover our bills while trying to recover from the car accidents, but I just can't afford our utility bills after paying rent for the month. I've applied for some remote work while I wait to go back to my full-time position, but I won't collect a paycheck from that in time to cover my utility bills before they're shut-off. This assistance would do so much to see us through this difficult time, and I promise that once I recover and go back to working in some capacity, I will pay the kindness we're shown forward to another family in need. Thank you.
