User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeThank you so much for coming together to help me raise funds for my car insurance and car payment! Your support and willingness to help is well received, and I hope to pay it forward in the future for anyone else who may need help. With your help, I am able to keep my car which I use to make an income. I am also able to lessen the load on my mother who pays our rent until I am able to contribute to her again. This act of kindness shows that their are still good people in this world despite everything chaotic going on right now. Bless all of you!

I Rely on My Vehicle to Make a Living, but After Getting COVID, I Need Help Keeping It!

My Story:

I am a Lyft/Uber driver, delivery driver, and substitute paraprofessional in New York City public schools for children with special needs. I am also studying to certify for my teacher certification exam. I live with my mother, who works in Talent Acquisition for Altice, and my twin sister who is in cosmetology school full time. We all support each other and are just trying to do our best to get by.

We tend to live paycheck to paycheck, and our combined incomes help us make enough to afford our bills. However, we've started to struggle after my sister was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My mother and I do the best that we can to help her, and that's meant that we've had to take some time off of work to care for her. That put us in a pretty precarious financial situation. Then, my sister and I both tested positive for COVID, back to back, and we each missed two weeks of work. We're late on all of our bills now, and I'm on the verge of losing my car and car insurance coverage.

Without assistance, I will lose my car. I'm doing what I can to come up with rent so that my family doesn't lose their home, but that's meant that I can't afford to keep up with my car payments and my car insurance. That's why I'm very humbly seeking assistance with my car payment and car insurance. Keeping my vehicle is hugely important to me and my family because they rely on me to provide and pay my fair share. In June, I will start training to be a full time teacher in Baltimore, as well as take on tutoring and coaching positions, which will help me be able to help my mother and sister. This assistance would mean so much to me and my family, and it would keep us from falling deeper into a cycle of poverty. Once we are financially stable, we plan to pay it forward and help another family in need.
