In the Aftermath of Losing My Daughter, I've Struggled to Work. Please Help Us Keep Our Home!

My Story:

I'm a single mother struggling to get back on my feet after the death of my oldest child. She passed fairly recently, and after losing her, I decided that the best way for me to honor her was by becoming a social worker. So, I have been working in the social services field as a way to both cope with her loss and serve others in my community who have experienced or are experiencing harrowing circumstances. In addition to my job, I'm raising my teenage daughter, and I couldn't be prouder of her. She's planning to attend college next fall, and despite the adversity that she's faced, she continues to pursue excellence. I too plan on returning to school when I have the chance. Not only would it give me a path forward in my career, but it would also allow me to a be a positive role model for my daughter and the other young women that I serve.

After losing my oldest daughter, I have struggled with my health to greater degree. While I typically earn enough money to make our rent every month, I had to take a leave of absence from work and have fallen behind as a result. The medical issues that I'm having are chronic, so I'm not sure when I'll be able to return to working a normal schedule. All in all, I've been out for two months now, without pay, and I'm struggling to find a way for us to afford our rent. We've been served with a three day notice, and we're going to be evicted if we can't catch up very soon.

If we can't catch up on our rental balance soon, my daughter and I will have nowhere to live. We don't have anywhere to go if we lose our home. More than anything, I'm worried about how much jeopardy that could put her future in. As a mother, I've always just wanted the best for my children, and I'm doing my best to provide, but I'm not too proud to admit that right now we need help. I will go back to work, but until then, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the people who help us keep our home.
