This person has left the following thank you note:
Firs off I would like to give a big thank you to the modest needs organization and the individuals who are able to help veterans in their time of need. It has been a long difficult year for me and many other veterans, but thanks to the donations I am able to pay my bills. With these donations I will be able to get back on my feet and get my life back in order. Once that happens I will most definitely become a donor and pay it forward and help another veteran in need.
I'm a Veteran Struggling to Keep My Home After Losing My Job to an Injury. Please Help!
I'm a 29-year-old veteran, and I live with my dog. My favorite things to do are to take my dog for walks and hikes, and I love to spend time outdoors learning new skills. Currently, I'm unemployed, but I was working as a camera technician up until about five months ago.
I lost my job five months ago when I was injured and couldn't work. Before being laid-off, I had to miss months of work without pay, and I was only able to rely on my VA benefits and my savings. Because my injury lasted longer than my old job allowed, they were forced to lay me off. As a result, I wasn't able to get unemployment benefits because the injury I sustained didn't occur at work. I still haven't been able to find a new job, but I'm in the process of trying to go to trade school so that I can find sustainable work in the future. In the meantime, I'm worried because I'm behind on my mortgage and could lose my home if I fall further behind.
Without a job, I have quickly blown through my savings and am no longer able to keep up with my mortgage. If I remain behind on my mortgage, I could lose my home to foreclosure, and my lender has already put me on notice that that will happen if i don't catch up soon. That's why I'm humbly seeking assistance with my mortgage payment that's past due. This assistance would keep me safely housed until I can find work again, and it will give me the chance to focus on going to school so that I can find a more durable career in the future. Your generous assistance would have a huge impact on my life, and it would give me the opportunity to finally get my footing after returning to civilian life. Thank you all in advance for helping me with my mortgage and for helping me keep my home. I promise to never forget the generosity and compassion I'm shown.
