I'm Going Back to Work, but I'm on the Verge of Losing Our Home Before I Can Get My 1st Paycheck!
I'm a single mom to a handsome 1-year-old boy. I was in a long-term relationship with his father, but we recently broke up, and now, it's just my son and I on our own. I've been left with all of the monthly expenses, but I'm doing the best that I can to provide for my son. I've been in between jobs for the past year due to the pandemic, but I've recently started working as a caregiver and have also started school to get my associate degree.
Having to care for my son on my own has been difficult, and it's meant that I've had to stay home with him instead of trying to find work. Thankfully, I've managed to find work, and his grandmother is helping me out by staying home with him during the day so that I can work. In the process of finding work and being in between jobs, we fell behind on our rent and haven't been able to catch up. We're a month behind right now, and even though I'm back at work, I won't get my first paycheck in time to be able to keep our home. I've already received a pay or vacate notice, and my son and I have 30 days to catch up with our rent.
The position that I've accepted for work will give us the stability that we need going forward, and I'll even be able to get my son into daycare. However, before we're able to get back to being self-sufficient, we're going to lose our home without assistance. So, I'm humbly asking for help with catching up on our rent. This would allow me to get back to work without the fear of my son and I becoming homeless. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read our story and to all the people who choose to give us this extremely generous assistance as well.
