COVID Caused Us to Fall Bahind on Some of Our Bills & We Need Help Please!
My Story:
I'm a healthcare worker who is married to a really wonderful man. My husband is disabled and is unable to work after being hurt on the job years ago, so he takes care of the house while I work. I work at a veteran's center and help disabled veterans on a daily basis. I love my job and the opportunity that it gives me to give back to my community and the people who need me most.
Shortly after the pandemic began, I was furloughed from my main job at the veteran's center. I was able to keep a part-time job during that time, and between that and my husband's disability assistance, we were able to get by with our mortgage, though we still fell into a state of forbearance. I was still employed during that time, so we weren't able to get any assistance through unemployment payments. As a result, we fell behind on our electric, gas, and phone bills, and despite being back at my main job, we don't have enough coming in right now to be able to catch up.
Our home is already in a state of forbearance, and now, we're also facing a shut-off to our electricity, gas, and our phones. If all of those are shut-off, it will result in a catastrophe for me and my husband, and we could also lose our home as a result. We're under a huge amount of stress to get caught up on our mortgage as well, and this assistance would allow us to set aside more money to be able to do that. It would be a huge boost, and it could even be enough to get us out of financial danger entirely. Thank you all for your help with becoming self-sufficient again, and I promise my husband and I will do our best to pay it forward.
