I'm Waiting to Return to Work After an Injury & Need Help Keeping Our Home!
I am a single mother with two young children at home. My 7-year-old son has ADHD, so he is very hyperactive but loves to swim and play games. My 13-year-old daughter loves to make things out of rubber bands and also loves to paint. In order to support my family, I worked as a full-time delivery driver for a warehouse until I broke my foot in September.
Normally, I earn just enough to make ends meet month to month; however, after I broke my foot last year, I have been having a much more difficult time in terms of being able to pay our bills. I was denied short and long-term disability due to a technicality in my work contract, so I haven't had hardly anything coming in since being out of work. I used my savings to keep up with our rent after going on leave, my tax returns to keep up with my car payments, and my stimulus to keep up with rent again. Now, we're facing the prospect of homelessness if we can't find a way to take care of our rent for this upcoming month. With the eviction moratorium set to expire at the end of the month, I'm worried we could be facing eviction if we're not caught up by then.
We're on the ropes currently, and my little family really needs this assistance to be able to keep going. I'm working on recovering from my injury, and I'm set to return to work soon, but in the meantime, I'm worried we could wind up homeless before I can get back to work. On top of being able to keep our home, this would be a huge example to my children that there are exceptional people in this world, and I know it's an example they would carry with them for the rest of their lives too. Thank you all for taking the time to read our story and for saving our home in advance.
