This person has left the following thank you note:

User-submitted image - Click to see real sizeMy family and I would like to thank you so much for your help. I can not put into words what this means to us and what it has done for us. You have taken the biggest stress we have right now away and any negative allegations put against us in our rental record and references to rent going forward in our lives. To be honest, we did not think this would happen and was shocked to get an email saying our application was funded. It gives us faith that there are still great, selfless, and generous people out there that would take from themselves to help other people. Again, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and will appreciate this forever.

After Using Everything We Had to Move, We Need Urgent Help with Our Rent!

My Story:

I'm a disabled veteran, and I'm married and have two boys with my wife. She takes good care of us all, and I'm really proud to be her husband. Our sons are great kids, and they both work exceptionally hard and make me proud to be their father. My 13-year-old son is autistic but does exceptionally well in school despite his disability and is very intelligent. My 19-year-old son has been working straight out of high school, and my wife and I are both incredibly proud of him for working hard and for saving up enough money to buy himself a car. I will say, things have not been easy for me since I returned from Iraq, but I couldn't ask for a better family to support me day to day.

Typically, we earn enough money to afford all of our bills and even have some leftover to put away during good times. However, this past year has been difficult for everyone, us included, and we've lost a lot of work to COVID. So, when our lease was up and it became clear that it wouldn't be renewed, my wife and I decided we had no choice but to move to somewhere more affordable that had just opened up. At the time, the landlord wanted first month, last month, and a security deposit, while at the same time, we still owed two months on our old place after falling behind on our rent due to losing work to COVID. We spent all of our savings, all of our stimulus money, and all of our tax returns to make this move happen, but even after pouring all of that into this, we're still in a precarious situation financially. We're about a month behind on our current rent, and we need help if we're going to be able to keep our home.

After moving once and spending everything we had, we cannot afford to lose our home and be forced to move again. We'll have nowhere to go and will have to find a shelter, or worse. This assistance would quite literally keep us off the streets, and it would allow us to get off to a good start with our landlord, so that if we go through hardship again, they'll be more inclined to be lenient with us. This would be a huge relief for my family, and we would be forever grateful to the people who come together to help us keep our home. Thank you for your kindness and compassion in advance.
