I'm a Single Mom Who Needs Help Keeping Our Home after Quarantining for COVID!

My Story:

I am a divorced single mom of two amazing boys. My 10-year-old son is a big helper who loves playing football and video games. My 6-year-old is a sweet and kind boy who loves Kindergarten and playing with his dog named Kobe. I work full-time as a Benefits Coordinator for an orthopedic medical office. My children are on both in school two half days in person and the rest of the days are virtual.

Since divorcing their father, I've worked hard to try to gain some sense of financial stability, but it's been hard because until three years ago, all I knew was being a stay at home mom. I was in an abusive marriage with no money, no job, and I stayed because I thought I wouldn't be able to make it on my own. Three years later, I've earned two promotions at my job and am able to provide for my sons and me. It's still been difficult, and we have to manage our finances pretty carefully, but we've always been able to manage. However, my son contracted Covid-19 in February, and since then it's been tough for us to get by.

We all had to quarantine, and I missed a lot of work as a result. Like I said, we have to manage our finances carefully, so missing two weeks of work set us back by a lot. On top of that, we had to deal with a car repair and have fallen behind on our rent by about two months as a result.

I'm back to working now, but we don't have any way to catch up on our rent, and I'm worried we could lose our home soon. If that happens, we'll lose everything. I have worked so hard to build a life for my sons and I after leaving an abusive marriage behind, and to have it all ripped away because of Covid-19 would be too devastating to bear. Getting support with our rent would save our home, but it would also ensure that all the work I put into leaving that marriage and finding a better life for my boys and I doesn't go to waste.
