A Car Accident Caused Us to Fall Behind On Rent Right as Our Lease Is Up for Renewal. Please Help!

My Story:

I'm a single mother of five amazing children, one of whom has grown up and moved out. My oldest daughter is in college, works full-time and is out on her own. My next oldest is my 13-year-old daughter who is well-mannered and loves running track. I also have an 11-year-old daughter who has a lot of wisdom for her age. My two youngest children are fraternal twins who are 7 years old. My son loves sports, and his twin sister loves dancing and cheerleading. I'm separated from their father currently, and it's been difficult trying to manage as a single mother with so many kids. Nevertheless, we're a big happy family, and I wouldn't want things any other way.

Before December of last year, I had worked in customer service for over 15 years. I decided to make a career change due to the pandemic, and I now work in quality control for KIA. Our struggles began when I was in a car accident right before New Year's Eve. Due to the extensive damage and the delay in shipping parts thanks to the pandemic, I had to get a rental car to be able to get to and from work. My insurance company wouldn't cover the full 30 days, so I had to pay for the rental car partially out of pocket. On top of the deductible from the accident, this set me back by a lot, and I got behind on our rent as a result. Our lease is up for renewal next month, and I'm worried that if we aren't completely caught up on rent, then the leasing company won't renew our lease.

If they don't renew our lease, we'll lose the home we've been in for so many years. I'm also worried about finding a new apartment on short notice because we can't afford a down payment on a new place. In addition to that, I don't want the leasing company to put a notice on my record because that would make it nearly impossible to rent in the future. Ultimately, getting this help would get us completely clear of a bad situation, and it would get us back to a point where we can be self-sufficient going forward. For that, I want to thank all of you who help us. On behalf of my family, we will never forget this and will always do our best to pay it forward.
